Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 German Kriegsmarine Issue Junghans Stop Watch! Issued to U-Boat crews for torpedo timing, this EXACT watch is featured in Dr. Konrad Knirim’s, “Military Timepieces” book.
Produced for the German Navy, these stop watches were used for the measurement of torpedo running times and depth charge detonation.
Made of a steel case, this German-made Junghans Stop Watch is in EXCELLENT functioning condition, and is featured on page 251 in Dr. Konrad Knirim’s, “Military Timepieces” book. Though the crystal shows some light scratches, the dial and hands are in near MINT condition, with NO damage or corrosion! Note that because I use a camera flash, the scratches show up WAY more pronounced than they actually are. I did not even notice scratches until reviewing the photos (they are not noticeable in-person). The manufacture name is clearly marked on the face, and was manufactured in 1942. Being in used condition, the case does show some signs of wear (scratches, marks, patina), but it is in otherwise VERY NICE condition for its age. Though it is 100% functional, the movement has not been serviced in 30 years, so I would suggest getting it cleaned for daily use. A VERY nice and original item for any collection, or display!
