Description
Stored with the cannon (inside the vehicle/tank or with the regular repair/adjustment tools), the Luftanschluß was used to test air pressure of the recoil system. This SPECIFIC variant was used in conjunction with the captured 7.62cm FlaK Cannon. The 76 mm air defense gun M1931 was an anti-aircraft gun used by the Soviet Union during the Winter War and the first stages of World War II. The configuration owed much to the design of the contemporary Vickers 3-inch anti-aircraft guns. The Soviet M1931 like the Vickers gun had a two-wheeled carriage with collapsible cruciform outriggers. A number of M1931 guns were captured by Finland during the Winter War and were employed by them as the 76 ItK/31 ss during World War II. Likewise, M1931 guns captured by the Germans were given the designation 7.62 cm Flak M.31(r) and used until they were either worn out or their ammunition supply ran out. A few were rebored to fire German 8.8 cm ammunition and redesignated the 7.62/8.8 cm Flak M.31(r). However, the majority were scrapped in 1944. .
Made of steel, aluminum, and wood, and used to test the recoil pressure, this box is an AMAZING example! 100% COMPLETE, it contain the pressure gauge, as well as all the parts and accessories needed. Used earlier in the war, the main instrument is dated 1942. Though the lettering, “Luftanschluß” that is normally painted on the top has been painted over by the Finnish Army, you can still see the original lettering indicating it was used with the 76mm Cannon. Some Waffenamts and Finnish SA Inspection stamps. Some obvious wear, marks, and scratches due to the age, but nothing that detracts. Could be cleaned up quite easily for display! EXCEPTIONALLY RARE in this condition, it would be a PERFECT addition to any collection or restoration project!
