Description
The Richtkreis 31 (RK 31) aiming scope was developed for Artillery and MG units, and was used for measuring horizontal and vertical angles. It was an important instrument for initially sighting guns of all sizes prior to firing, and could be used for indirect fire on both the MG34 and MG42 lafettes. It also was used with mortars and other heavy artillery. In addition, the Rk 31 shares the same tripod and support head as the SF 14z periscopes.
Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this RK31 Aiming Sight is in EXCELLENT used condition! It retains 98% of its original finish with some slight marks, wear, and surface stains due to the age…but NO corrosion! 100% COMPLETE, it is 100% MATCHING, and the manufacture is clearly stamped onto the side. The optics are VERY CLEAR, as you can see in the photos. No signs of spotting! Focus still works 100% correctly. All spirit levels are also functional! Some wear and marks throughout, but nothing that detracts. EASILY one of the nicest ones I have seen in a while. Comes complete with the number matching periscope head and optical light plug, that are both matching in condition. The wood box is original to this set, however the lower wood door has broken off (would need to be glued/repaired). A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
