Description

You are bidding on a SUPERB example of WW2 German Richtkreis 31 (RK31) Sighting Scope and periscope head, as used by Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe ground units!  This was used in conjunction with the MG34, MG42, as well as various artillery and mortar equipment!

The Richtkreis 31 (RK 31) aiming scope was developed for Artillery and MG units, and was used for measuring horizontal and vertical angles. It was an important instrument for initially sighting guns of all sizes prior to firing, and could be used for indirect fire on both the MG34 and MG42 lafettes.  It also was used with mortars and other heavy artillery. In addition, the Rk 31 shares the same tripod and support head as the SF 14z periscopes.

Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this RK31 Aiming Sight is in EXCELLENT used condition!  It retains 98% of its original finish with some slight marks, wear, and surface stains due to the age…but NO corrosion!  Sadly, the butterfly nut is missing, but that can easily be replaced.  The manufacture is clearly stamped onto the side, and the optics are VERY CLEAR, but a bit hazy, as you can see in the  photos.  NO signs of spotting!  Focus still works 100% correctly.  All spirit levels are also functional!  Comes complete with the periscope head, which is the original to this set-up.  Some wear and marks throughout, but nothing that detracts.  EASILY one fo the nicest ones I hvae seen in a while.  A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–

Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
