Description
First issued in the fall, the Winter Fur Caps (Pelzmutzen) were a standard issue item, and were distributed to all EM/NCO’s for the winter season. As the season changed, winter issued clothing were to be returned to the various storage depots, until their reissued in the following September.
Although there was no official standard model of the fur cap, the most commonly encountered type followed the basic pattern of the Mountain and M43 caps with fold down back and side panels designed to protect the wearers ears and neck.
Made of heavy fur (possibly deer, as opposed to rabbit), this German Army Winter Fur Hat, is in SUPERB used condition! It features back and side panels that secure around the wearer’s neck and chin. This was so that the wearer was fully protected from the harsh air and wind. Inside features a Rayon liner. Though not marked, I believe this is around a size 58 or so! A zinc Adler and Cockade are both tied to the front. Made in FAR superior than the standard rabbit fur model, it is in NEAR PERFECT condition, it would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display!
