|You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe / Wehrmacht Marschkompass Map Compass!
Designed to fit the M35 map/dispatch case, this came issued, along with a large assortment of map reading/plotting tools and instruments. There were a few different models, but were all similar in design.
Made of brass and bakelite, this is an EXCELLENT used example! Though there are some slight marks and wear, it is VERY solid with no damage or corrosion! Features a fold back hinged lid, which opens to a mirror, reflecting the compass bearing and the desired march direction, when the compass is pointed in a desired direction of march or movement. The compass face has white degree markings, with luminous dots at the four directional points and true North, and a movable white directional arm on a black background field. The outer edge of the compass has a rotating dial to allow for directional orientation. There is a locking button, which immobilizes the compass when the lid is closed, or to dampen it’s movement to settle the compass. The side edge of the compass has a fifty millimeter ruler with impressed markings. No manufacture code, indicating this was produced late-war (most likely mil Busch A-G, Optische Industrie, Rathenow). The compass is complete and functional. The BONUS is that it includes the original lanyard! Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–
Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
