WW II German Army Air Force – M31 CANTEEN & STRAPS – MOSTLY MATCHING – NICE!

The M31 canteen was based on the M1893 and M1907 canteen which were used throughout WW1.  These were originally manufactured in aluminum, but as aluminum was required for use in other equipment (aircraft, for example), they were then re-designed to be manufactured in steel.

Made of aluminum with a felt covering, this early-war canteen is in GOOD condition for it’s age.  There is no major corrosion or damage, and features a clear manufacture on both the canteen cover and cap, indicating, “OHW 38”. Neck of the canteen is marked, “RFI 37”. Leather strap does have a break at the cap, so it would need to be repaired or replaced. Early aluminum cup features no markings. Some wear to the felt cover. A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
