Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht / Luftwaffe Kmf.a Kehlkopfmikrofon (Throat Microphone)! This was used in various Tanks and Armoured Vehicles.
In pre-42 Panzer III/IVs (before the introduction of the intercom box 20), the radioman wore the Dfh.b headset. All other crew members wore the Dfh.d headsets, which were connected to intercom connection points (socket box units Z19 or Z20). Dfh.d headsets are easily identified by their small plugs with short stubby prongs. Externally, other than the plug and markings, they were identical to the Dfh.b, but internally they were totally different in their makeup. Because these headsets needed to serve a system that had no amplification, the resistance value is only 54 ohm whereas the Dfh.b is 2000 ohm.
Made of aluminum, steel, leather, and bakelite, this Panzer Throat Microphone is EXCELLENT used condition! The band is still fully adjustable, and they retain approx. 95% of their original paint and finish! NO damage, however the main plug is missing (easy to replace). A nice EARLY example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection of display!
