You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht / Luftwaffe Klappspaten Folding Shovel!

  

The WW2 issue Shovel/Entrenching tool was originally patterned after the WW1 M1887 design.  In service with the military until 1938, until it was replaced with a newer folding-type, which was more practical…however both types remained in service until the end of the war.

 

 Made of steel and wood,  this folding shovel is in EXCELLENT condition for it’s age.  There is no corrosion or major damage, however there are some marks and wear from use.  The leather carrier features a maker’s stamp, and a clear 1939 date and Waffenamt.  No post-war markings.  The shovel itself has a clear 3-digit manufacture cod indicating “agv 41”.  Hard to come by as an original set, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display!
