You are bidding on a GOOD example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Gebirgsjager / Medical M31 Canteen & Strap!

  

The M31 canteen was based on the M1893 and M1907 canteen which were used throughout WW1.  These were originally manufactured in aluminum, but as aluminum was required for use in other equipment (aircraft, for example), they were then re-designed to be manufactured in steel.


 Made of aluminum with a felt covering, this early war aluminum canteen is in decent condition for it’s age.  There is no major corrosion or damage, and all maker marks are present!  The neck is marked with a manufacture code and date of  1941.  Sadly, the felt covering is heavily worn and stained from storage  Strap is present, but not complete.  Good for restoration or parts, it would be a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
