The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issued to personnel on a limited basis.
Made of brass and steel by E. Leitz, Wetzlar, these 6 x 30 power binoculars are in VERY NICE used condition! The lens bodies retain about 90% of their original paint and finish, as well as the faux-leather covering! End piece fittings are 100% intact! The focus adjustments still function, and the image is AMAZING! 100% crystal clear with NO spotting, fogginess, or dust particles! Optical alignment is also perfect! The right side body is marked Dienstglas (Service Binoculars), 6×30, along with the serial number, “220837“. The odd thing is that they are marked “H/6400” indicating these should have a ranging scale…however I do not see one when looking through. Left side features the “E. Leitz, Wetzlar” logo. As they are in used condition, there are some slight marks and scratches throughout.
The leather rain shield is original to this set, and though it is difficult to see in the photos, features a 1938 date, an early Weimar Eagle Waffenamt, and a matching “E. Leitz, Wetzlar” Logo. Neck strap is also original to this set!
A VERY NICE example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
Payment should be made within 7 business days at the end of the auction unless buyer contacts me for other arrangements. I accept all forms of payment.
