Description
You are bidding on an AMAZING and VERY RARE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe KG12A Control Grip, as used ONLY in the Me109 E/F, and later Ju87 B/D “Stuka” Dive Bomber aircraft! This was brought back by US Serviceman E. Fobel, who flew P-47 Thunderbolts during the war. The KG12 was mounted directly between the pilots legs, and gave him control of the aircraft, weapons (MG, Cannon, Bombs, and Radio). Most aircraft control grips after WW2 were based on this German design. Made of steel, aluminum, and bakelite, this grip would have been manufactured between 1943 and 1945. Removed from a downed Ju87 aircraft by a US Serviceman, it has some slight marks, wear, and damage from the crash, but is otherwise VERY solid! Spring trigger works perfectly, as do all buttons! Data plate is 100% intact, clearly indicating the make and model. Though it has holes drilled for a side button, there is no evidence of one every being installed (this was removed from the aircraft exactly as pictured). As such, this is most likely originates from a Ju87 Stuka, as that is the only later aircraft that never had a side button installed. Also retains the original mounting screws to attach to the control column. Would make a SUPERB addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
