Description
You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE & BOXED example of a late-war WW2 German Luftwaffe “simplified” Refexvisier Revi 16 A-N Gunsight! This gun sight was used specifically in late-war NIGHT FIGHTER aircraft such as the He219 and Me110!
The Revi16A was manufactured around 1942-1945, and was used until the end of the war. This Gunsight entered production to replace the outdated Revi C12/D, and was designed with the Spitfire in mind. The aiming reticle was made in such as way that a Spitfire would fit the aiming circle from edge to edge at 300m, and each increment marking represented 6 mils. This was the main sight the pilot or gunner used when sighting targets (aircraft or ground). The Revi 16 A-N was installed ONLY in the He219 and Me110 nightfighters…in both the pilot and Schrage Musik (upward firing machine gun) positions.
Made of aluminum, bakelite, and steel and dating around 1944/1945, this is an AMAZING boxed example. Retains 95% of it’s original finish with the original bulb! This is the LATE-WAR simplified version. The standard Revi 16A had an additional darker glass mounted on an adjustable arm that the pilot could position when flying in brighter light. As all pilots were wearing the shatterproof tinted goggles in the late stages of the war, this tinted glass and arm became redundant. As such, the Revi Gun Sight was simplified by having this additional glass and arm removed (this also saved on production costs and materials). This Revi is one of those rare “simplified” versions. The additional RARE feature is that the reticle itself is a unique design that is SPECIFIC to the night fighter sights (see last photo). The data label is 100% intact, and clearly indicates Revi 16 A-N, Fl. 52410. The clear glass is included and is original to this sight. The box is also original to this gunsight, and all information is present. As I have only ever seen TWO in the last 20 years, this would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection, display, or simply as a conversation piece!
