Description
You are bidding on a VERY RARE and AMAZING example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Peilrahmen 16 (PR16) Loop Radio Antenna, Ln.27226, as used in conjunction with the FuG16 ZY Radio System! This was used on many late-war Fighters and bombers such as the Me109, Fw190, Ju88 Me262, Me-163, He162 and other German aircraft.
This famous antenna was part of the main FuG16ZY Radio System, which allowed for air-to-air communication, as well as air-to-ground.
Made of bakelite, aluminum, and steel, this late-style FuG16 PR16 Antenna is in SUPERB condition! EXTRAORDINARILY RARE, it is EASILY identifiable. Some slight chips and hairline cracks on the bakelite, but nothing that detracts. Though the steel antenna loop has some bends, it is 100% ORIGINAL, and NOT a modern replacement. As it was removed from an aircraft, there are traces of the original camouflage paint on the bottom edge. It is missing the electrical connection on the bottom, but those come up by themselves very once in a while. I have indicated its location in the last photos. A VERY RARE and FANTASTIC addition to any collection or restoration project!
