Description
This compass was the main navigation device used by German aircraft. It was usually positioned in the rear fuselage of the aircraft, and sent a signal to the smaller, “Fuhrertochterkompass”, which was located on the pilot’s control panel. These two instruments would work together to indicate the aircraft’s heading to the pilot. It was used on almost all Fighters, Bombers, and Jets.
Made of aluminum, steel, and bakelite, this Mutterkompass isin SUPERB used condition! Removed from an aircraft it still retains 95% of it’s original paint and finish, with NO damage or corrosion! All springs and wiring are intact, and the data label is 100% clear and easy to read. A lot of dirt build-up as it recently came out of storage, but that can easily be wirped/cleaned off. I have indicated its exact location in the Me109 and Fw190 in the last photo. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or restoration project!
