Description
This compass was the main navigation device used by German aircraft. It was usually positioned in the rear fuselage of the aircraft, and sent a signal to the smaller, “Fuhrertochterkompass”, which was located on the pilot’s control panel. These two instruments would work together to indicate the aircraft’s heading to the pilot. It was used on almost all Fighters, Bombers, and Jets. Made of aluminum and steel, this Mutterkompass Access Hatch is in SUPERB used condition! Removed from an aircraft it still retains traces of the original RLM02 and RLM76 camouflage paint! Some slight damage and corrosion, but nothing that detracts. Locking Latches would need to be cleaned and lubricated in order to function. I have indicated its exact location in the Fw190 in the last photo (note that the museum bolted a piece of aluminum in this position, as the original hatch was missing). Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, display, or restoration project! Please email me if you need additional photos or information. ——————- PAYMENT —————– Payment should be made within 7 business days at the end of the auction unless buyer contacts me for other arrangements.
