|You are bidding on a MINT and UNUSED example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe 0-13 km Hohenmesser (Altimeter), Fl. 22320 as used in the Me109, Fw190, Me262, and other late-war German fighter aircraft!
This instrument measured the altitude of the aircraft using the surrounding air pressure. It was located on the main instrument panel of many early and late-war German aircraft.
Made of dark black bakelite, this is an AMAZING unused example, dated 1944 later in the war. Still factory sealed, the FL. number is clearly marked on the face, indicating Fl. 22320, and the data label is 100% complete on the reverse (note that the label originally indicated the earlier Fl. 22322 type, and the last number was change to a “0” during production. There are some light marks and scratches, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance. Responds well to air pressure, but not sure if airworthy. The millibar adjustment knob still functions 100%! Brought back by a serviceman, it comes complete in the original German box! Box has some internal cardboard missing, but it is complete otherwise. Serviceman wrote, “Altimeter” in the 0utside. I have shown its location in the Fw190 in the last photos. EASILY the nicest one I have ever owned! A PERFECT item for any collection, display, or restoration project!
