WW II German Aircraft – FuG 17 Z RADIO TRANSCEIVER – Me109 Fw190 – RARE!

Out of stock

You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a FuG17 Z Radio Transceiver, Ln.26994!  These sets were airborne VHF transceivers used in Close Air Support aircraft for R/T and W/T communications with ground units. Frequency Range was 42 to 48.3 MHz.  This matched the ground forces Fug 7 radio fitted to command tanks and reconnaissance units. The FuG 17 was identical to the Fug 16 with the exception of the frequency range and seems to have been deployed first. In the Fug 17 ZY version it was also used for Y-Verfahren (Y-Control), though it seems to have superseded it this role by the FuG 16ZY when it became available.  This was used by most front line fighters and destroyers to communicate with others fighters and bombers and ground stations.  Used on many aircraft such as the Me109, Fw190, Me262, Do-335, He162, and Me-163.

The FuG17 was a VHF transceiver used to communicate with single seat fighter aircraft for R/T and W/T communications and were also used for ground fixes and DF homing on ground stations when used in conjunction with the FuG 10P or FuG 10ZY. Frequency Range was 38.5 to 42.3 MHz. The FuG 16 was also used for Y-Verfarhren (Y-Control) in which aircraft were fitted up as Leitjäger or Fighter Formation Leaders that could be tracked and directed from the ground via special R/T equipment.

Made of aluminum, bakelite and steel, this late model FuG17 Z is an AMAZING used example!  Removed from an aircraft, it is 100% complete with the Empfänger E17,  Bediengerät BG17, and, Sender S17!   The remotes I have listed separately (FA16 E, FBG16, FA16 S) in my other listings (these allowed the pilot to control the unit from the cockpit, as opposed to being directly in front).  One of the NICEST I have seen, it is in complete and NEAR PERFECT internal condition, however I do not know if it is functional, as I have not tested it.  There are no missing internal parts, and all tubes, apart from one, are present.  Most of the original RLM66 paint remains!  Sadly, someone has restored the outer cover (sections were cut out post-war).  A VERY RARE and FANTASTIC addition to any collection or restoration project!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–

Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
