You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe 1:1 Drehzahlgeber (Tachometer Generator), Fl.20230 & Mount! Produced for use with German the Jumo 004 & BMW 003 Turbo Jet and HWK Rocket Engines.
This instrument attached directly to the Engine, and sent a signal to the Drehzahlmesser (Tachometer) on the main control panel, indicating to the pilot the current engine speed.
Though the tachometer used on the early Me262 (Jumo 004
engines) had an indicator that displayed 0 – 12000 rpm (14000 rpm on later models), it was really only accurate from to 9000 rpm. As such, at lower speeds, with the help of a a push button switch that was installed on the side console, the pilot was able to take a reading from the Doppeldruckanseiger (Fl.20233) that gave him a low-speed reading from the Riedelanlassmotor or the engine itself.
Once the starter motor bright the engine to 2000 rpm, the
engine was started, and the speed indicator switched to the encoder on the
Made of steel, aluminum and bakelite, this instrument is in AMAZING used condition! It is 100% functional mechanically, but due to some corrosion, I am not sure if the generator itself is functional. Some crown nuts have been replaced. The Fl. label is clearly stamped into the housing, indicating, Fl. 20230. As it was removed from a jet engine, it still retains much of the original grease and wear. The mount itself has some very slight pitting, but it is VERY solid and is still usable, with functional bearings. The Jumo 004 part number is still VERY easily to read, and indicates, 109.004-660.001. I have shown its location installed on the Jumo 004 Turbo jet engine in the last photo. Would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection, restoration, or display!
