WW II German Aircraft AD18 Y – FuG16 ZY PILOT RADIO SWITCH – Me109 Fw190 Me262

1 in stock

You are bidding on a SUPERB and RARE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Ad18 Y, as used in conjunction with the FuG16 ZY radio transceiver!  This switchbox box was used in most of the late-war night fighters and bombers, such as the Me109, Fw190 Me262, He219, Ju88, and Me110!

The FuG16 ZY was an airborne VHF transceiver used in single seat fighter aircraft for R/T and W/T communications and were also used for ground fixes and DF homing on ground stations when used in conjunction with the FuG 10P or FuG 10ZY. Frequency Range was 38.5 to 42.3 MHz. The FuG 16ZY was also used for Y-Verfarhren (Y-Control) in which aircraft were fitted up as Leitjäger or Fighter Formation Leaders that could be tracked and directed from the ground via special R/T equipment. Aircraft equipped with ZY were fitted with a Morane whip aerial array. Principle components: Transmitter, Receiver, Modulator in one case, S 16 Z Tx, E 16 Z Rcvr, NG 16 Z Modulator Dynamotor U 17 Antenna Matching unit AAG 16 Z Modulator Unit MZ 16 Homing Unit ZVG 16 Indicator AFN 2.

The Ad18Y is the radio box the pilot plugged his flight helmet into.

Made of aluminum, bakelite, and steel, this later model Ad18Y is in EXCELLENT used condition!  It is 100% complete with no damage, however there are some marks and wear due to the age.  The Fl. label  has worn away over time, however the information is clearly legible on the main base plate.  All internals feature NO corrosion whatsoever.  Both switches are 100% functional, and as it was pulled from an aircraft, it still retains the hand-written electrical code and markings!  I have indicated it’s location in the Me109, Me262, Fw190, and Do335 cockpits.  A VERY RARE and FANTASTIC addition to any collection or restoration project!

——————- ABOUT ME —————–

Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft (Fw190, Me262, etc.), as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. As a private collector myself, I am constantly on the lookout for historical memorabilia, authentic photographs, artwork or anything unique relating to military aircraft.
