Description

You are bidding on a SUPERB and VERY RARE example of a 100% WW2 German Luftwaffe Navigational Sextant / Oktant, Fl. 23750, as used in many bombers and transports throughout WW2!

The Luftwaffe Oktant was used by aircrews for long range flights.  It provided accurate reading, using sidereal (star) navigation.

Made of aluminum and steel, this is a SUPERB German Oktant in all original condition with its original box!  Manufactured by C. Plath of Hamburg, it features the original Fl. label, and clearly indicates,  Fl. 23750.  The instrument dates later in the war, probably between 1943 and 1945.  Some slight marks and scratches, but nothing that takes away from the overall appearance.  It measures approx. 11.5″ in length, and comes complete in the original box!  Also included are various spare parts, as well as the original (and hard to find) eyepiece!  I am not sure if it is functional, so I am selling as-is, and will leave the functionality determination to the winning bidder.  One plastic part is broken, but it does not affect the function.  Latches on the wood box have broken (see last photo).  I have shown this EXACT type in use in the last photos.  Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, or display!
