WW II German Air Force Aircraft – COCKPIT SECTION & PANELS – Fw190 A8/R2 – WOW!

You are bidding on a SUPERB and EXCEEDINGLY RARE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Fw190 A8 Cockpit Section! Recovered from a wrecked Fw190 A-8/R2 in Germany, I will provide further information to the winning bidder.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, nicknamed Würger[b] (“Shrike”) is a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank at Focke-Wulf in the late 1930s and widely used during World War II. Along with its well-known counterpart, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the Fw 190 became the backbone of the Jagdwaffe (Fighter Force) of the Luftwaffe. The twin-row BMW 801 radial engine that powered most operational versions enabled the Fw 190 to lift larger loads than the Bf 109, allowing its use as a day fighter, fighter-bomber, ground-attack aircraft and to a lesser degree, night fighter.

The Fw 190A series’ performance decreased at high altitudes (usually 6,000 m (20,000 ft) and above), which reduced its effectiveness as a high-altitude interceptor. From the Fw 190’s inception, there had been ongoing efforts to address this with a turbosupercharged BMW 801 in the B model, the much longer-nosed C model with efforts to also turbocharge its chosen Daimler-Benz DB 603 inverted V12 powerplant, and the similarly long-nosed D model with the Junkers Jumo 213. Problems with the turbocharger installations on the -B and -C subtypes meant only the D model entered service in September 1944. These high-altitude developments eventually led to the Focke-Wulf Ta 152, which was capable of extreme speeds at medium to high altitudes (755 km/h (408 kn; 469 mph) at 13,500 m (44,300 ft)).[6] While these “long nose” 190 variants and the Ta 152 derivative especially gave the Germans parity with Allied opponents, they arrived too late to affect the outcome of the war.

Made of aluminum, magnesium, bakelite, and steel, this cockpit section is in STUNNING relic condition, and dates between 1943 and 1945! As it came from a burned-out wreck, there are some slight bends, breaks, and corrosion, but NO major damage! Though there are some burn marks, surprisingly, it still retains 95% of the original RLM66 cockpit paint! The Upper Panel and Blind Panel are complete, however the lower panel is missing a section on the right side. These actually come up for auction on occasion, so a replacement could easily be found, if the winning bidder wishes. Currently the Main Panel is not attached to the shock mounts, but that would be rectified quite easily (most likely would need to replace most of the shock mounts). Features the VERY RARE Revi Gunsight Mount & Plate, as well as some of the lines, hoses, and fittings! Outer skin also retains much of the original camouflage paint! Some parts of the windscreen frame are disconnected, but it does not detract. Otherwise VERY straight with no other damage! Probably one of the ONLY Fw190 Cockpit Sections known to exist in ORIGINAL & UN-RESTORED condition! Would look AMAZING with some relic instruments installed. I have shown its location in the last photo, and will provide more information on the specific aircraft to the winning bidder. A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
