You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of a WW2 British Royal Air Force Smith’s 8-Day MK. II (6A/579) Cockpit Clock!  This was used in various cockpits such as the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster, and other Fighters and Bombers!
During World War II, Smith & Sons produced cockpit chronograph clocks for the RAF, based on the Jaeger/Lecoultre movement. Featuring a 12-hour dial, the bezel would rotate to wind the clock, and there are red “dummy” hands to set the take off time, so when upon landing the pilot could calculate the flight time. 
The movement is the same used by LeCoultre in its 201 model, and it features 7 jewels and 8 day power reserve.
Made of brass and steel, this Smith’s Mk. II (6A/579) Cockpit Clock is in EXCELLENT used condition. It does have some marks, scratches, and wear, due to the age, but it 100% complete.  Marked “L 5/40”, this indicates and early production date of 1940, with all part information stamped into the dial. Sadly, much of the UV reactive paint is missing from some of the numbers. Currently non-functional, however it should be an easy repair, as the parts are quite common. NO broken parts from what I can see…however…I am selling this for parts or repair. A RARE early MK. II, this was used in the Hurricane, Spitfire, Lancaster, and other aircraft. I have shown its location in the last image. Would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display!
