Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Fl.U.V. Mess Hall Table Napkin / Place Setting Linen! This original issue linen was part of the accommodation and personal-use equipment supplied through the Luftwaffe barracks administration system.
The abbreviation Fl.U.V. stood for Flieger-Unterkunfts-Verwaltung, the Luftwaffe organization responsible for accommodation and barracks property. Fl.U.V. ownership markings are encountered on a wide variety of institutional equipment including bedding, blankets, towels, mess items, furnishings, and other property intended for use within Luftwaffe quarters and installations. Utility textiles of this type were designed for repeated institutional use and were generally more robust than civilian personal linen. Integral hanging loops allowed the cloth to be conveniently suspended when not in use, a practical feature consistent with barracks and washroom equipment.
Made of a haevy woven cotton, this original Luftwaffe Place Setting Linen is in EXCELLENT original used condition! The fabric shows only light marks, normal wear, and some scattered staining from age and use, with NO major holes, tears, repairs, or damage. The cloth features its original woven blue border stripes together with two intact hanging loops along the edge. It retains TWO prominent and easily identifiable Luftwaffe Fl.U.V. property stamps, both of which remain clearly visible. The edges remain intact and the cloth is still strong and displayable. Approx. 24″ x 24″ in size, this is a complete piece of Luftwaffe barracks equipment, ideal for any collection of German aviation, field gear, institutional equipment, or Luftwaffe display material!
